Group Proposes 'United States of Nigeria' as Solution to Country's Problems, End to Secession Calls

According to The Sun, The Directorate of Concerned Patriots of Nigeria (DCPN) has proposed a radical solution to Nigeria's perennial problems, including the call for restructuring and secession. The group suggests transforming Nigeria into the "United States of Nigeria" (USN), with 36 sovereign states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja as the capital.

According to Prophet Wale Olagunju, the group's national president, this restructuring model would foster development, innovation, and healthy competition among states, similar to the United States of America (USA) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The DCPN proposes an executive president, similar to the US system, and recommends 17 priority areas for urgent attention, including power, fuel, agriculture, security, economy, and corruption.

Olagunju emphasized that the group's proposal is the only way to permanently end agitation for breakup and unrest in Nigeria, which has lingered since the Biafra war in 1970. He warned that any other approach could lead to war, bloodshed, and instability. The national secretary, Dr. Oriade Daniel, echoed this sentiment, stressing that the DCPN's model would bring grassroots development, laws tailored to individual states' needs, and an end to privatization and corruption.

The DCPN's proposal offers a unique perspective on Nigeria's restructuring debate, emphasizing sovereignty for states while maintaining a unified federal government. If implemented, this model could potentially address the country's longstanding issues and pave the way for a more prosperous and stable Nigeria.
