A 26-year-old Ebonyi State Lady, Chinaza Nwaezere who while battling with goitre aliment was forced into prostitution has recounted her encounters with guys who react to her condition with curiosity and sometimes fear. She stated that some guys hesitate to touch her in the hotel room fearing the transmission of the illness.
Despite the reluctance or apprehension displayed by some guys, she acknowledges the occasional acts of kindness, such as receiving monetary assistance from them. She lamented that despite the discomforting situation within her neck region, she still endured the pain with the aspiration to accumulate enough money to seek medical treatment.
She said in an interview with Punch, ''It is not really an easy thing for me, most times people don't know I am sick. If I come out at night for my work, some guys will see me and ask me what happened to my eyeballs. My eyeballs are almost popping out of their sockets because of this goitre. But some of them may not look at me very well and they will carry me.
When I get to the hotel room, the pain in my neck will be much but I have no choice. Once I lie down with it to start the job, I always feel excruciating pain but I just deal with it, brace up, and focus on the money I am going to be paid. Knowing that, once I gather enough money, I will stop the world. Sometimes when the guys in the hotel room see my swollen neck, they won't touch me and they just give me some money. Most of them are afraid that I may have some disease that they may contract. Some are also scared to touch me so I don't die in their eyes.''
