I'm Not Aware Of Court Order That Can Stop EFCC From Investigating Criminal Offence - Austin Okai

Austin Okai, the candidate for the House of Representatives in Dekina/Bassa in the 2023 elections, concurred that Yahaya Bello's matter was inherited by the current EFCC chairman, who then informed Bello of the gravity of the circumstances.

He said he was not aware of any injunction that could stop the EFCC from looking into criminal charges and that the court order that the former governor of Kogi State had received was linked to his fundamental human rights.

A warrant has been recently issued to stop EFCC from arresting Yahaha Bello. Austin conceded that there is a chance the warrantee was unaware of the previous court order.

He emphasized that the governor had been asked for interrogation and questioned if the court injunction prevented Bello from accepting such an invitation. Austin applauded the EFCC for requesting an arrest warrant and affirmed their authority to detain Bello due to his refusal to comply.

He said there could be more to this than what we see and asked the former governor to come out of hiding so he could clear his reputation.

In a conversation with Arise TV, he stated, "As the chairman said, he inherited the case, and he told the governor that there's a problem here."

"The court order the former governor of Kogi State obtained is about his fundamental human right, and I am not aware of any court order that can stop the EFCC from investigating the criminal offense."

"Now there's a warrant arrest; the warrant might not be aware of the pre-existing court order; did the court order ask you not to honor an invitation? Was he arrested? He was invited."

"I think the EFCC should be commended for even approaching the court to get a warrant of arrest. They have a right to arrest him since he refused to honor the invitation."

"He is supposed to come out of his hiding and go and clear his name. Except there's more to what we do not know."
