According to Chidi Lloyd, a former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, President Bola Tinubu was able to win the state in the 2023 presidential election because of the political influence of former governor Nyesom Wike.
He revealed that Wike had given the other PDP members and him instructions to back the APC's presidential candidate.
In a podcast interview with Segun Okinbaloye, Chidi Lloyd said that even though they were PDP members, they followed Wike's orders and voted heavily in support of President Tinubu and PDP candidates running for national assembly seats.
Lloyd claims that Tinubu won the presidential election and PDP candidates won seats in the national assembly as a consequence of Governor Wike's well-thought-out political ploy. This, he claimed, was an exceptional event.
Llyod said, "We are PDP members, but Nyesom Wike led us to do something that was unprecedented; he directed us to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC, and we massively voted for President Bola Tinubu."
"For the national assembly positions, we voted for candidates of the PDP. In an unprecedented manner in this state, we saw that all of that came to pass."
