According to Vanguard, The Middle Belt Youth Association (MBYA) has called on Nigerians to exercise patience and support President Bola Tinubu's administration as the nation navigates through a challenging period. Addressing a press conference in Abuja, Dr. Michael Ahundu, Secretary General of MBYA, emphasized that the current economic and political difficulties are the result of mismanagement by previous administrations.

Dr. Ahundu highlighted that the Tinubu administration is committed to repositioning Nigeria for the betterment of all citizens. “As you are all aware, the country is passing through one of the most difficult periods of its history on all fronts – political, economic, social, and community relations,” he said. He acknowledged the pain and frustration felt by many Nigerians but stressed that patience and support are crucial for the government's efforts to yield positive results.

The MBYA also warned against internal sabotage, urging government officials to avoid actions that could undermine the administration’s efforts. Dr. Ahundu pointed out that some officials have been involved in corrupt practices, including the manipulation of appointments within key government departments. He expressed concern that such actions not only disrupt the system but also deepen ethnic and religious divisions in the country.

In particular, the MBYA condemned the replacement of competent officials with those who are easily manipulated for corrupt enrichment. Dr. Ahundu noted that this practice has been observed in various ministries, including Commerce, Defence, and Solid Minerals. He called on President Tinubu and the National Assembly to address these issues and ensure that appointments are based on merit rather than favoritism.
