According to a report by The Nation Nigeria. Minister of Works David Umahi has warned that the Federal government will not provide compensation for any buildings built along the 700 km Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.

The Minister urged the residents along the routes to cooperate so that the government could provide legacy projects to them, emphasizing that anyone hoping to build new structures in order to receive compensation would be let down since nothing of the like would be considered.

In a statement provided by Edet Ekpenyong, the Ministry's Head of Information and Public Relations, Umahi discussed his remarks at the Sunday stakeholders' meeting in Calabar and revealed intentions to conduct a conference for indigenous contractors.

"The Minister was quoted as saying don't go and build on the road so that you will get compensation, there will be no compensation if you delay the project you will delay the funding."

He stated that the goal of the indigenous contractors conference is to support patriotic contractors because the behavior of foreign contractors is starting to worry him.
