PDP CONGRESSES: ORTOM’S EX AIDE, TION, PICKS MAKURDI CHAIRMANSHIP NOMINATION FORM
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stalwart and former media aide to the immediate past Governor of Benue State, Mr. Paul Tion has joined the race for the PDP Chairmanship position in Makurdi Local Government, LG, in the coming party congresses by picking his nomination form.
Mr. Tion who served as the Senior Special Assistant, SSA, to the former Governor on New Media was led by a huge crowd of supporters and well wishers to the PDP State Secretariat in Makurdi to pick his form.
The ex Media Aide who was welcomed to the Secretariat by the State Organising Secretary of the party, Mr. Moses Audu amid funfare by party supporters later addressed the gathering after picking his forms.
He noted that he was in the race to make a difference and to reposition the party in Makurdi Local Government Area, LGA, and make it the choice for all Makurdi residence.
Mr. Tion said he was motivated to join the race following the call by the people urging him to come out and offer purposeful leadership to the party in Makurdi metropolis.
The aspirant who described himself as an early bird and front line contender in the race after being the first to pick his nomination form said he was humbled by the called of the people adding that he was fully prepared for the assignment and would not fail the party.
He said: “Our party faithful already know that I have the capacity to turn around the fortunes of our great party and I am prepared for the assignment.”
He said he had intended the event to be low-keyed pointing out that the uninvited crowd that turned up to accompany him to the Party Secretariat was a clear indication that the people were with him and much was expected of him.
While expressing gratitude to his supporters for the show of love and believe in his capacity to deliver, the aspirant assured them and the entire PDP family that “I will stop at nothing to ensure a positive rejigging of the party to reposition it for election victories to justify the confidence reposed in me.
“We are all aware that we are in the opposition, so the PDP in Makurdi metropolis does not need a mediocre but someone who is tested and with proven capacity to deliver because there is so much work to be done to surmount the rough road of opposition politics.
“So the journey has just began, we are coming from opposition and we need to brace up to the challenges of opposition politics, which is not what everyone can do.
“I am in the race because I know the party needs someone with my capacity and acumen at this point, and I am ready to give my all to turn around the fortunes of the PDP.”
