The All Progressives Congress (APC) chief in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the ongoing political unrest in the region.

In an interview with The Sun, Okocha was asked about the challenges the party faces, given that while the APC holds the presidency at the federal level, they are in the opposition in Rivers State.

He responded confidently, acknowledging that the situation is challenging but affirming his belief that nothing is impossible.

Okocha explained that when they took over, the APC in Rivers State resembled more of a social club than a political party. He revealed that there were no clear characteristics, requirements, or structures typically associated with a political party.

He said, "APC was like a social club where people attend burials, meetings, child dedications, and all that."

He added, "But the whole essence of a political party, which is about people who have gathered together, got themselves a manifesto, sponsored people for elections, campaigned for elections, won elections, and formed government, was not there."

Okocha revealed that they had to rebuild from that point. He mentioned that the Rivers APC had effectively collapsed and that the national body recommended forming a seven-member caretaker committee to address the situation.

He expressed hope that, with God's help, the party is beginning to make an impact. He emphasized that they represent the state's voiceless citizens and have become a strong voice for them.
