Yobe State House of Assembly Passes Eight out of Ten Bills in First Year

In a statement made during the one-year anniversary celebration of the 8th Assembly, the Speaker of the Yobe State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Chiroma Buba Mashio, announced that the legislative body had passed 8 out of 10 bills received, as well as 10 resolutions and various petitions within their first year.

Some of the key bills that were successfully passed include the Hisbah Commission bill, the State Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotion Agency bill, the State University Amendment Law 2024, the 2024 Finance and Appropriation bill, and the 2024 local governments' harmonized finance and appropriation bill.

According to DAILY POST reports, Mashio assured that the remaining bills currently in committee would be passed into law before the end of the second session of the Assembly.

He also reported that all petitions presented to the House have either been referred to the appropriate committees or have been given a fair hearing and resolved.

The Speaker emphasized the House's commitment to working closely with the state's executive branch to continue delivering democratic dividends to the people of Yobe.

He commended the dedication and hard work of the House staff and members, as well as the collaborative relationship maintained with Governor Mai Mala Buni's administration.
