Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson recently had to make an unexpected trip back to London for a medical check, according to London World.

The £30 million signing from last summer sustained an injury while representing Senegal in a World Cup qualifier against DR Congo. This injury prevented him from playing in the subsequent match against Mauritania.

Reports indicate that Jackson returned to London for a thorough assessment of his ankle injury by Chelsea's medical team.

This step was crucial for determining the injury's severity before allowing him to resume his holiday in Senegal.

Confidence remains high that Jackson will recover in time for preseason training under newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca. Last season, Jackson proved instrumental for Chelsea, netting 17 league goals.

His performances were pivotal in helping the team, managed by Mauricio Pochettino at the time, recover from a poor start to secure a sixth-place finish.

Remarkably, Jackson achieved this despite missing several weeks due to his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and he was one of the few regular starters who remained relatively injury-free throughout the season.

However, Chelsea are actively working to bolster their squad. They are nearing a deal to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa, with the clubs reportedly negotiating a £40 million transfer fee.

Additionally, Chelsea have renewed their interest in Crystal Palace's Michael Olise. Although the club attempted to sign Olise last summer, he chose to stay at Palace, signing a new four-year contract.
