During the July edition of the Leadership Empowerment Summit, Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church, issued a stern warning about the dangers of speaking against prophets sent by God. He emphasized that prophets carry divine blessings for God's people and that criticizing them could disrupt the flow of these blessings.

Oyedepo explained that while prophets are often the targets of criticism, those who speak against them risk facing divine punishment. He stressed that although prophets are human and imperfect, the gifts they carry from God are flawless and should be respected.

The bishop further elaborated that one might never encounter a perfect prophet or apostle, but the divine gifts they bring are perfect. He urged people to focus on the divine gifts rather than judging the prophets, as these gifts are from the Father of lights, without any shadow of turning.

He warned against being judgmental, highlighting that it is the divine gifts one should tap into, not the imperfections of the prophets. "Stop being the judge," he advised, reminding the congregation that every good and perfect gift comes from above.

To illustrate his point, Oyedepo shared a story about a woman who spoke against him and subsequently faced severe misfortune. The woman, who had criticized him by claiming he could not survive without her tithe, later found herself in desperate trouble after her husband left her with a three-month-old child. Oyedepo recounted that God revealed to the woman that her troubles were a consequence of her words against His servant. Oyedepo urged his followers to guard their speech and not let their words cause them to sin. He emphasized that he thrives on his covenant practice with God, not on people's gifts, and warned against the dangers of speaking ill of God's anointed prophets.

Hear him: “A woman came here from Oyo. She came here desperate. She got herself into trouble. Her husband left her with a 3 month old child. God said what you said against my servant. I don’t normally hear such things, she said it herself: Papa cannot eat without our tithe. I’ve been paying tithe before she was born. I am feeding from my covenant practice, not from your gift. Don’t let your mouth cause your flesh to sin."
