The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has called upon the Kwara State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) to ensure a just and impartial electoral process for all political parties during the forthcoming local government elections across the state's 16 councils.

According to a report by Punch, this plea was delivered through a statement issued by the PDP's Publicity Secretary, Olusegun Adewara, and shared with Punch in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, on Sunday.

The statement disclosed that the PDP's chairman, Babatunde Mohammed, and Secretary, Abdulrahman Kayode, represented the party at a meeting organized by KWASIEC involving various political parties the previous Friday.

The PDP raised concerns about a perceived improper relationship between KWASIEC and the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in Kwara State.

In its official statement, the PDP confirmed its preparedness for the upcoming elections, clarifying that they had no intentions of seeking alterations to the election timetable previously released by KWASIEC.

The party underscored its dedication to a transparent and punctual electoral process, expressing confidence in their readiness to engage as per the existing schedule.
