Chelsea's stalwart defender Thiago Silva has announced his departure from the club at the conclusion of the season.

Joining the Blues in 2020 from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, Silva played a pivotal role in Chelsea's triumphant UEFA Champions League campaign, clinching both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup titles during his tenure.

Regarded as one of the premier centre-backs of the era, Silva's contributions bolstered Chelsea's defensive solidity under former manager Frank Lampard. Forming a formidable backline alongside Rudiger, Ben Chilwell, and Reece James, Silva's experience and leadership were huge assets to the team.

In his farewell message, the 39-year-old expressed deep gratitude to Chelsea, stating,

"Chelsea means a lot to me. I came here with the intention of only staying for a year, and it ended up being four years. It is already hard to say goodbye in the most normal of circumstances, but when there is mutual love, it’s even harder. But once a blue, always a blue."

Silva's departure marks the end of an illustrious chapter at Chelsea, where his speed, aerial prowess, and leadership qualities endeared him to fans and teammates alike.

Expected to be honored with the captain's armband in his farewell match against Bournemouth, the former FC Porto man leaves behind a legacy of excellence on the pitch and unwavering commitment to the club.

Under the guidance of current manager Mauricio Pochettino, Silva made 22 starts in 24 appearances, showcasing his enduring quality and impact until the final whistle of his Chelsea journey.
