On Friday, a personnel member of the Osun Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) was injured in a hit-and-run accident that occurred near the Osun Government Secretariat in Abere, along the Gbongan-Osogbo Road.

According to reports, the accident happened when the FRSC officer was stationed at a roadblock checkpoint on the road. The driver of a Lexus Jeep vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when the FRSC personnel waved for him to stop. However, the driver failed to comply and instead struck the officer with his vehicle.

The driver did not stop after hitting the FRSC worker, but rather continued driving while the officer was dragged along the road for some distance, until he eventually fell off the Lexus Jeep.

According to Daily Post, when contacted about the incident, the Osun FRSC Sector Commander, Inyang Umoh, confirmed that the injured officer was in stable condition following the collision. Umoh stated that the FRSC is currently working to identify and apprehend the driver of the Lexus Jeep, who has not yet been arrested.

He said, "The officer is in stable condition. We are making efforts to get the driver of the vehicle. He has not been arrested yet."

The hit-and-run accident highlights the dangers faced by FRSC personnel in carrying out their road safety duties, and authorities are making efforts to locate the driver responsible and hold them accountable for the incident.
