Show no mercy to Hamas – Israeli PM Netanyahu tells new army recruits

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has urged new army recruits to fight Hamas “without mercy”.

In a statement from his office on Tuesday, he encouraged the young soldiers to take their place in combat positions and “repel a brutal enemy”.

“You are joining the IDF (army), the splendid combat positions, to repel a brutal enemy. We are striking them back without mercy and we will defeat them,” Netanyahu said.

To date, Gaza has been largely devastated by the conflict, which has been ongoing since Hamas’s attack on October 7th, 2021.

Troops kill 12 terrorists, destroy camp in Zamfara

Twelve terrorists were on Monday, killed and their camps destroyed by the troops of the Nigerian Army in Zamfara State.

Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director, Army Public Relations, in a statement on Tuesday, explained that acting on credible intelligence on the activities of the terrorists, troops conducted a targeted clearance operation to dismantle the suspected terrorists’ operational base in the town of Maru.

“In a fierce gun battle with the terrorists, the gallant troops neutralised 12 of the terrorists, compelling the others to flee,” he said.

The troops, he added destroyed the terrorists’ base after dislodging them.

Panic as gunmen invade Ekiti LG secretariat

Gunmen on Tuesday, stormed the Ilejemeje Local Government Area Secretariat in Ẹda-Oniyọ, Ekiti State, causing panic and chaos among workers.

The attackers disrupted normal activities and forced employees to flee the premises for safety.

This happened days after armed Yoruba Nation agitators invaded the Oyo State Government Secretariat.

The hoodlums, who were said to have come from the Obbo-Ayegunle community in the neighbouring Kwara State, violently stormed the secretariat, firing several gunshots, making workers run in different directions and in the ensuing pandemonium, one of them got injured.

IG vows tough times for kidnappers in Ogun

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, Tuesday, promised tougher time for kidnappers and other criminals disturbing the peace of Ogun State.

The IG also approved the immediate creation of additional Area Commands in the Ifo, Imeko and Ipokia areas of the state.

Egbetokun, who arrived at the command’s headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta, in the company of the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) zone ll, Olatoye Durosimi, and the state commissioner of police, Abiodun Alamutu, charged officers of the command to step up their effort in fighting crime in the state.

Addressing stakeholders and the rank-and-file of the police force in the state, the IG called for more support for the police to effectively combat crime in the state.
