Former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai, has urged those wishing Nigeria disintegrate to perish the thought, predicting that the country would continue to remain a united nation.

Buratai spoke in Kuta, Osun State on Sunday at the 60th birthday celebration of Olowu of Kuta, Oba Adekunle Oyelude, an event attended by dignitaries that include; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, ex-president, Olusegun Obasanjo, ex-Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola among others.

The ex Army boss, who described Olowu Kuta as a detribalise Nigerian, who has shown love to people across all ethnic groups in the country, said those agitating that the country should disintegrate must be ready to carve out their own part and move it to the ocean.

Delta poll: PDP sweeps all 25 LGs

The Peoples Democratic Party has won all seats in Saturday’s Local Government election conducted across 500 wards in the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta State.

The election was contested by ten political parties, who fielded candidates for chairmanship and councillorship positions.

Declaring the results, the Chief Electoral Officer and Chairman of Delta State Independent Electoral Commission, Dr Raphael Agbaike, said the PDP contested and won in 24 LGs in the July 13 2024 election.

‘’However, the chairmanship candidate of the PDP in Udu Local Government Area was returned unopposed.

US election: Trump’s shooter identified as 20-year-old Thomas Cooks

The gunman who attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump Saturday has been identified, according to the New York Post.

He has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

One of Crooks’ bullets at Bethel Park grazed the former President in the ear during an outdoor rally in Butler, just outside Pittsburgh.

Sources told the New York Post that Crooks was planted on a roof of a manufacturing plant more than 130 yards away from the stage at Butler Farm Show grounds.

Nasarawa Labour Party declared support for Abure amid faceoff with NLC

The Nasarawa State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has declared its unwavering support for the embattled National Chairman, Julius Abure, amidst a faceoff with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Mr Alexander Ombugu, the state Chairman of the party, stated this in an interview with newsmen in Lafia, the state capital.

In his statement, Ombugu affirmed that the leaders and members of the party in Nasarawa State remain loyal and committed to Abure’s leadership.

Ombugu explained that Abure has been facing challenges due to his transparent leadership style, which some persons are uncomfortable with and are attempting to oust him from his position.
