Vanguard reports that Otunba Segun Sowunmi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party, has expressed concern about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's acts and whether they are in line with the beloved Yoruba cultural values.


While he does investigate common Yoruba stereotypes—such as cunning political manoeuvring and betrayal—he sets former President Obasanjo apart as an exception who kept his word to his supporters. Is Tinubu straying from the admirable qualities that made him famous once? Sowunmi wonders.

"When I think about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's rise to power, I can not help but question if the Yoruba Uncle I have known and loved all these years is still the same person," he said. If you want to get me, you might have to give this some serious thought. Preconceived notions about betrayal and our inability to fulfil our commitments already exist among the Yoruba. People are mere objects to be exploited and dumped.
