Manchester City asserted their dominance on the south coast with a resounding 4-0 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion, keeping their pursuit of another Premier League title firmly on track.

According to a report by Flashscore, Pep Guardiola's side, ominously trailing league leaders Arsenal by just one point with a game in hand, delivered a masterclass performance that left Brighton struggling to keep pace.

The Seagulls, historically on the back foot against City with just one win in their last 15 head-to-head encounters, found themselves under pressure early on. Despite an early chance for Danny Welbeck being saved, City soon took control of proceedings. Kevin De Bruyne broke the deadlock with a magnificent diving header, expertly meeting Kyle Walker's cross to find the top corner of the net and give City the lead.

Phil Foden extended City's advantage, controversially converting a free-kick with a heavily-deflected strike that left Brighton goalkeeper Jason Steele wrong-footed. The young Englishman then showcased his clinical finishing with a second goal, calmly finding the bottom corner after a defensive lapse from the hosts.

Although Brighton made tactical adjustments at halftime, City remained relentless in their pursuit of goals. Julián Álvarez came close to adding to the scoreline with a powerful shot, before eventually finding the net with a simple tap-in after being set up by Walker.

Brighton's frustrations mounted as they were denied a penalty when João Pedro appeared to be fouled in the box. However, the decision ultimately had little impact on the outcome as City cruised to victory, extending Brighton's winless run to five matches and denting their hopes of European qualification.
