South East Governors Host Olusegun Obasanjo, Plan Meeting with Bola Tinubu on Nnamdi Kanu's Release

In a significant gathering on Tuesday, the South East Governors warmly welcomed former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who visited to show solidarity amidst pressing regional issues.

According to a report by Vanguard, the governors, following an extensive seven-hour meeting, also announced the formation of a committee chaired by former Senate President Pius Anyim to oversee the funeral arrangements for the late Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, speaking as Chairman of the South East Governors Forum, expressed condolences to the families and communities affected by Dr. Onu's passing.

He highlighted the Forum's deliberations on the updated findings from the South East Security and Economic Summit held in Owerri in September 2023.

Key outcomes included commitments to enhance regional security measures and bolster economic integration initiatives across the South East.

Additionally, the Forum announced plans to meet with President Bola Tinubu to advocate for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The visitation of notable figures such as Chief Emeka Anyaoku and His Royal Majesty Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe underscored the unity and support extended to the South East region during this critical juncture.
