Brigadier General Sani Usman (Retd), former Army spokesman, has shared his concerns following recent attacks in Gwoza, Borno State, carried out by female suicide bombers.

In a video shared by TVC, Usman recalled an incident from his time as Director of Army Public Relations when a man donated his own daughter to Boko Haram to be used as a suicide bomber. He said fortunately, the girl did not carry out the attack.

Usman stated that one of the troubling aspect of the recent Gwoza attacks is that the female suicide bombers carried minors with them. He said while it is already alarming for adult women to be used in such attacks, involving children adds a new, more disturbing dimension.

In Usman's words: "There was an instance where a man donated his daughter to Boko Haram to be a suicide bomber. Luckily, she didn't detonate but the most worrying aspect is for the suicide bombers to tag along minors. So this is really disturbing and worrisome. If it is adult female, it is not so surprising because there were instances like that but now this has brought in a new dimension"
