The Director of Strategic Communications for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Momodu has alleged that there is a growing discontent among Northern leaders who had previously backed Tinubu, exemplified by figures like the former Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai who is not active in the party politics.
He argued that the primary support in which Tinubu got in the 2023 election was from the North. He stated that considering economic realities, the APC could resort to various methods, including bribery and coercion, to destabilize the PDP and sow discord within its ranks in order to win the 2027 election.
He said in an interview with Channels TV, ''In 2027, APC will do everything possible to destroy the PDP institution. They will buy those who are buyable, terrorize those who are not buyable, and make sure that the party is in disarray.
And this is because the crowd upon which Tinubu came into power was in the North. A Lot of Northern Leaders who gave support to Tinubu are disgruntled, you can see Mallam Nasir El-Rufai moving around. So the man who gave them the pen is also giving them the eraser. So they are jittery that they can lose power.''
