Today, numerous Kenyans opted to visit Nairobi CBD in a bid to show their last respects to Kenyans who lost their lives during the finance bill demonstrations. If took place at Uhuru Park, numerous Kenyans showed up to celebrate.
After celebrating at Uhuru Park, a group of Kenyans took the chants to Nairobi CBD where there was some tension as protests were not expected. Instead of engaging the peaceful protestors in some running battles, it seems as if the Nairobi area commanding officer opted to talk to the protestors.
As per information shared the police boss allegedly ordered officers not to come close to any of the youthful protestors chanting or engage any of them in running battles. He also managed to convince the protestors to go home as it was getting late.
Although it is not clear why the police boss dared to address the protestors, it seems as if he might have proved that peaceful protests in Kenya can be stopped by dialogue and without any teargas.
