Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, the national leader of the New Nigeria People's Party, has criticized the land distribution policies during Abdullahi Ganduje's eight years as governor of Kano State. He claimed that thousands of plots of land were given to individuals, highlighting a notable incident at Kano University of Science and Technology where a faculty building was demolished to make way for a mall.

Kwankwaso noted that the current administration has unapologetically demolished the mall. He emphasized that as long as they remain in politics, they will not permit the construction of malls on Kano state facilities, including schools, hospitals, and government buildings. This commitment is driven by the desire to preserve the integrity and original purposes of educational and government sites.

"As long as we are in politics, we will never allow anybody to go and build malls in schools, hospitals, and government places in Kano," Kwankwaso stated in an interview with Arise TV. "No one will be pleased if the governor sells off a piece of a university to developers for shopping centres."

He also mentioned that Ganduje distributed thousands of plots of land during his tenure. "I am well aware that during his eight years as governor of Kano, Ganduje distributed thousands of plots of land," Kwankwaso said. He referenced the incident at the Kano University of Science and Technology, where a faculty building he constructed was demolished to build a mall, which has since been demolished by the current administration.

Kwankwaso also mentioned the campaign issue regarding the mosque in Kano, which dates back hundreds or thousands of years. "Buildings were erected there, and most of it was sold off; the area was also the subject of a campaign, which led to its demolition," he added.
