Demonstrators call for the release of Israeli hostages held in the Gaza Strip, outside Hakirya Base in Tel Aviv, July 3, 2024 (Avshalom Sassoni/Flash90)A recent proposal for a potential hostage-ceasefire deal has been outlined with "clear wording that does not allow for interpretation," according to Hezbollah-linked newspaper Al-Akhbar. The Lebanese publication reports that the plan includes contributions from CIA chief William Burns, coordinated with Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey.

The proposed agreement aims for a sustainable calm during the negotiation period between the first and second stages of the deal. It also stipulates that Israel will withdraw troops from the Rafah Crossing area in coordination with Egypt, contingent on an agreement regarding border management, but without a complete withdrawal from the strategic Philadelphi Corridor.

Israel announced it had received Hamas’s response to the latest truce-hostage deal outline and would review the document before issuing a reply. Hamas confirmed it had submitted its latest demands, expressing eagerness to reach an agreement to stop the conflict and affirming that communication with mediators is ongoing.

This development highlights the complex and multi-faceted negotiations involving various international players, each contributing to a potential path towards peace and resolution.
