Northern Nigeria is facing several challenges particularly in the area of kidnapping and out of school children syndrome. At a recent meeting, northern governors talked tough on ways to tackle the problems. They described the situation as unacceptable and firmly stated that the sad realities that must be tackled head-on.
During a program titled, "Journalists' Hangout on TVC, Mr. Babajide Otitoju, a respected broadcast journalist, and a public affairs commentator addressed some of the challenges facing the northern region. He equally tasked the northern governors and the military to wage a war against banditry in the northern region.
While challenging the federal government and the Nigeria military he said, "Is it impossible for Nigeria to say okay, we're declaring a total war on banditry, military campaign against banditry; that will take into cognisance all the contigual states, that's how to win the war. We go to Niger today, we go and fight them, we bomb them we go back, then we go back to that place where we bomb them. Sometimes we even bomb them and we don't succeed in killing anybody."
