The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has detained four people who they believe are responsible for the death of retired Brig.-Gen. Uwem Udukwere, an officer stationed in Abuja, according to The Nation News. The four killer suspects have been named by CP Benneth Igweh, the Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The suspects were paraded across Abuja yesterday. According to Igweh, at approximately 4:00 p.m. on June 23, 2024, four individuals were apprehended by CSP Victor Godfrey-led police officers from the Utako Division of the FCT Police Command: Ibrahim Rabiu, a 33-year-old resident of Rasha, Apo; Nafiu Jamil, a 33-year-old resident of Apo pantaker; Aliyu Abdullahi, a 47-year-old Apo resident; and Mohammed Nuhu, 28, a 28-year-old resident of Apo Primary.

On Sunday, Utako Police Division investigators took them into custody. They are accountable for the assault, robbery, and demise of Brigadier-General Uwen Harold Udokwere (rtd.) on June 22, 2024, at his Kabusa home in Sunshine Homes Estate. When the General attempted to face the suspects with his firearms, the suspects, who had confessed to the crime, stabbed him. Both the stolen phone and the knife used during the crime were found. We're doing everything we can to find any more escaped people and retrieve the guns that were taken from the deceased. Upon completion of the inquiry, suspects will face legal charges.

Additionally, the police said that on May 26, 2024, at around 10:00 a.m., in response to information received, members of the FCT Police Command's Anti-kidnapping Unit pursued and apprehended Isa Mohammed Ibrahim, 30, of Kofina, Zuba, Abuja (a former prison escapee in 2022), as well as his brother, Nasiru Mohammed (also known as Danger). The suspects were part of the kidnapping group that broke into Livestock Estate in Dei-Dei at some point in December of last year, abducted 17 people and demanding a large ransom before setting the victims go.

He said: "The general was with his gun and he was struggling with us, that was why we killed him.”
