According to The Nation, In a confident display of ambition, Hon Agboola Ajayi, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State, declared on Wednesday his intent to unseat the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Ajayi's assertion was made during his unveiling by the leadership of Ondo PDP, signaling the beginning of the party's campaign tour across the state's 18 local government areas. Ajayi emphasized his deep roots in grassroots politics, which he believes equips him uniquely to address the economic challenges facing the Sunshine State.

Ajayi, the former Deputy Governor of Ondo State, underscored his vision for economic transformation and sustainable, inclusive growth as the cornerstone of his campaign. He outlined his commitment to revitalizing the state's economy, promising comprehensive reforms that would foster a thriving business environment and improve the quality of life for residents. Ajayi's campaign promises revolve around practical solutions designed to empower the people of Ondo State and stimulate economic activity across various sectors.

Highlighting the current state of governance, Ajayi criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for what he described as widespread administrative failures. He pointed out that many communities in Ondo State, once bustling with economic activity, have suffered significant decline under the APC's rule. Ajayi argued that the residents of these communities have been the primary victims of ineffective governance, leading to diminished economic opportunities and overall stagnation.

Ajayi expressed his determination to embark on a transformative journey for Ondo State, pledging to instill a sense of pride and self-reliance among its citizens. He articulated his belief in sustainable development, metaphorically stating that rather than merely providing for the people, his administration would empower them with the skills and tools necessary for self-sufficiency. This approach, Ajayi argued, would lay the foundation for a more prosperous and resilient Ondo State.

His words: “I am embarking on a journey that will transform Ondo State totally. A journey that will give us a state to be proud of. We will not give our people fish but we will teach them how to catch fish.
