Edo poll: Court dismisses Imasuagbon’s suit challenging Akpata’s candidacy

The Federal High Court in Benin dismissed Kenneth Imasuagbon's lawsuit challenging Olumide Akpata's candidacy for the 2024 Edo State governorship race under the Labour Party. Justice Babatunde Quadri ruled that the court lacked jurisdiction as Imasuagbon didn't exhaust internal party dispute mechanisms before legal action. The court deemed Imasuagbon's claims regarding Akpata's nomination premature and lacking substantial evidence. This upheld Akpata as the LP candidate for the upcoming election, reinforcing the court's jurisdictional stance on party disputes.
