On Tuesday, July 2, the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo state, ordered the remand of two siblings, identified as Latunde Alayemi, 50, and Ayoola Alayemi, 54, in a correctional facility for the alleged murder of a 49-year-old man.

The prosecutor, Toyin Ibrahim, informed the court that the defendants committed the offenses on June 23 at approximately 12.45 a.m. in the Moniya area of Ibadan. Ms. Ibrahim stated that the defendants unlawfully caused the death of one David Olagoke, 49, by matching him all over his body.

The prosecutor claimed that the offenses violated Sections 516 and 324 of the Oyo State 2000 Criminal Laws.

The two, whose addresses were withheld, were accused of murder and conspiracy. The presiding magistrate, Kausarat Ayofe, rejected the defendants' plea for lack of jurisdiction at the case hearing.

She gave the police instructions to send the case file back to the DPP so that legal counsel could be obtained.

She then postponed the case until September 2nd so that it may be discussed.
