'People Later Felt That I Was Vindicated After My Disagreement With My Boss Akeredolu' - Agboola

The PDP Governorship Candidate for Ondo State Election, Agboola Ajayi has addressed perceptions of disloyalty during his tenure as deputy governor to late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. He stated that many people later recognized his vindication following disagreements with his former boss. However, he expressed a reluctance to dwell on past conflicts stating that it's only wise to let his late boss rest in peace.

Regarding his political trajectory, he refuted claims that his affiliation with the All Progressives Congress (APC) was the genesis of his political career. He argued respectfully that all the political leaders in Ondo State did not pass through all the stages he passed through before becoming deputy governor.

Agboola emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November governorship election in Ondo state. He served as the deputy governor to the late Rotimi Akeredolu up until 2020. In the run-up to the 2020 governorship election, moves to impeach Agboola were thwarted after a political battle with the late Akeredolu.

He said in an interview with Channels TV, ''People who think that I was disloyal as deputy governor, I believe that is their own personal opinion. Because at the end of the day, People later felt that I was vindicated after my disagreement with my boss Akeredolu. But I don't want to discuss about my late boss. He has gone and we should allow him to rest.

Speaking about his political background, he rejected the notion that his political career is been birthed by the APC, ''I started politics at a very tender age and later I became a secretary of a ward. I became a counselor twice and later I was elected as council chairman for three years. And later I became deputy governor. It's not just that I woke up one day to become deputy governor, I have a track record. With due respect to the political leaders in Ondo State, I have not seen somebody who has gone through all these stages.''
