The Presidency has lauded Nigeria's Naira as the world's best-performing currency, citing a nearly 50 percent appreciation against the dollar. This statement, issued by Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, comes in response to criticisms from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) regarding the state of the nation under President Bola Tinubu's All Progressives Congress (APC) administration.

According to Sahara Reporters, the PDP had accused President Tinubu and the APC of pushing Nigerians into "worsening insecurity, harrowing economic hardship, soaring unemployment rates, high food costs, and overall misery and despondency." The party's National Executive Committee called for urgent measures to address insecurity during their recent meeting in Abuja.

In a counter-statement, Onanuga defended the administration's policies, asserting that the Tinubu-led government has been actively addressing national challenges and working towards a robust economic transformation.

"Unlike the PDP administration of 16 years, the Tinubu administration has been confronting the problems of our country headlong, moving for an audacious reset that will firmly put our country on a solid economic pedestal," Onanuga remarked.
