According to the report from the Sun, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Sidney Dike acknowledged the challenges faced by the Southeast in attaining political power due to the requirement for regional alliances in winning the presidency.

He cited the Southwest's success in securing the presidency for the second time as a result of strategic collaboration, as Bola Tinubu garnered support from the North for Muhammadu Buhari's presidency with the expectation of reciprocal support in the future.

He questioned the Igbo people's ability to form strong alliances with other regions, suggesting that such partnerships could have been fruitful during the Second Republic.

He emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in achieving political success and lamented the absence of solid alliances involving the Igbo people.

Chief Sidney Dike said this while reacting to the question asked about what can be done to make the Southeast region grab power at the centre

He said, "It is difficult for the Southeast to grab power because no region can win the presidency alone. The Southwest is sitting there now for the second time because Tinubu took the Southwest to support Buhari from the North with the understanding that after that, there will be a reverse case. Who has the Igboman been able to say, this is my ally, let me support you and in return, you will support me? It could have worked out in the second republic."
