Governor Makinde Presents Staff of Office to New Crowned Oyo Monarch.

On Monday, Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, officiated the presentation of the staff of office and instrument of office to Oba Titiloye Oyekanmi, the newly crowned Elempe of Tapa.

According to report from punch, the ceremony, held at Elempale Community High School, marked a significant moment for the town.Represented by Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Governor Makinde underscored the pivotal role of the Elempe in fostering unity, peace, and development within the community. He praised the rigorous selection process that culminated in Oba Oyekanmi’s ascension, highlighting it as a testament to Tapa’s commitment to tradition, transparency, and the rule of law.

Addressing the new monarch directly, Governor Makinde charged Oba Oyekanmi to collaborate closely with the government to address critical community issues such as security, economic development, healthcare, and education. He emphasized the urgent need to combat challenges like kidnapping, banditry, and land grabbing, calling for the Elempe’s active involvement in tackling these threats.

Makinde stressed that leadership demands wisdom, compassion, and integrity, urging Oba Oyekanmi to govern with grace, humility, and a strong dedication to the welfare of all citizens. He lauded the community’s steadfast support throughout the selection process and affirmed the importance of upholding the traditional values and principles of the Elempe lineage.

In his acceptance speech, Oba Oyekanmi expressed gratitude to God and Governor Makinde for their support, viewing the occasion as a historic milestone for Tapa. He pledged to lead with a focus on development, peace, and growth for Tapa under his reign, promising to honor the community’s traditions and enhance its standing.

Earlier, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ademola Ojo, hailed the event as a transformative moment in Tapa’s history, symbolizing a new era of leadership and authority under the esteemed Oba.
