In a recent episode of the "Mic On Podcast" with Seun Okin, Chief Okoi Obono Obla, former Presidential Aide to Muhammadu Buhari and Former Head of the Special Presidential Investigations, made significant revelations regarding corruption in Nigeria. Chief Obono Obla disclosed that a staggering 2 billion US dollars and 850 million gold bars were recovered from the residence of a minister from Goodluck Jonathan's administration, but these assets were never officially reported to the government.

Chief Obono Obla detailed one of his investigations prompted by a petition from retired Major General Adamu Yusuf. Yusuf claimed he had acted as a whistleblower in a case that led to the recovery of the aforementioned sums. He had an agreement with Abba Kyari that he would receive a commission post-recovery. However, despite the successful recovery operation, the full amount was not declared. Specifically, only 350 million gold bars out of the total 850 million were reported, leading to Yusuf's frustration and subsequent petition for further investigation.

Chief Obono Obla recounted, "One of the cases I investigated was based on a report from retired Major General Adamu Yusuf. He wrote a petition to my office, stating he was a whistleblower in a case where I led the recovery of 2 billion US dollars and 850 million gold bars from a minister's house in Jonathan's government.

The agreement with Abba Kyari was that he would receive a commission post-recovery. After the operation, the money was recovered but not declared to the government; the gold bars were not declared either. Only 350 million gold bars out of 850 million were declared. Yusuf was angry and asked me to investigate.

My director of operations, an assistant commissioner of police, led the investigation, interviewing nearly seven individuals, including the controversial Chuma Nzeribe from Anambra State. They all confirmed the recovery, stating they were present when the government team came to retrieve the money."

The "Mic On Podcast" shared this explosive interview on their official Instagram page, generating widespread reactions from the public. The revelations have sparked considerable debate and concern over the handling of recovered assets and the integrity of the processes involved. Chief Obono Obla's statements have underscored the need for transparency and accountability in the management of Nigeria's resources and the fight against corruption.
