In a recent statement via his official X account, former Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to some former members of El-Rufai’s cabinet challenging the assembly’s report indicting the El-Rufai administration of over 400 billion naira fraud.
At a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, former commissioners disputed the assembly’s report.
They provided financial details from El-Rufai’s eight-year tenure.
The ex-commissioners claimed the report was politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing their administration’s achievements.
They argued that the assembly’s findings were false and intended to damage their reputation.
They insisted that their administration was transparent and accountable during their time in office.
"No amount of falsehood and disinformation will change the facts and figures that from 2015-2023 Kaduna State was looted and our Children and grandchildren have been left with huge burden of debts. They shamelessly left behind litany of uncomplicated projects and contractual liabilities that has suffocated the economy of our state. They pocketed billions for non existent light rail projects, tied our IGR to fraudulent Bank loans. Kaduna is like a woman raped and the rapist wants honour.
Every reasonable resident of Kaduna can clearly see and attest to the properties and wealth amassed by those who claimed to have served the state. The spirit and the blood of the people they wasted and the lives and livelihoods they destroyed will continue to haunt them.
We shall recover every penny of our state funds looted by those rodents and their larcenous head," Shebu Sani wrote.
Sani accused the former officials of enriching themselves at the expense of the state and vowed that the state would recover the alleged stolen funds.
