The owner of Qaffee Point, a popular restaurant in Mombasa, is counting losses after his business premise was attacked by goons on Tuesday during the anti-government protests that turned chaotic. The owner, a licensed gunholder, was caught on camera shooting in the air to disperse the goons.

The goons infiltrated peaceful protesters and camped outside the restaurant to loot. He was forced to run for his dear life after being overpowered by the goons.

He also shot at three people during the confrontation. The goons stormed his restaurant after he fled and caused massive destruction and looting.

They allegedly ate all the food, smashed the windows and stole expensive baking equipment that he had imported from abroad. According to one of the businessman's friends, the estimated value of the property lost during the incident is Ksh 18 Million.

The goons also torched cars that had been parked outside the restaurant. ''His business has gone down the drain. He will be forced to fire his staff as he picks up the pieces,'' said the friend.

The businessman was arrested after the shooting incident as police launch a probe into the incident. Detectives said they will conduct investigations and bring those involved in the looting to book.
