Renowned Nigerian politician Tonye Princewill recently offered his unvarnished opinions on Nigeria's political climate.

Vanguard reported that he counseled President Tinubu to focus on winning over the populace before addressing the system. He pointed out that while certain ministers are succeeding, Tinubu needs to come up with a fresh plan to win over Nigerians, except he does not intend to run for a second term.

He was adamant about the Rivers State situation, saying that we have transcended ethnic boundaries. He said that cross-cultural support exists for both Wike and Fubara. He argued that, like the other governors, Rivers should be allowed to continue with their work.

He called Rivers State "the treasure base of Nigeria," adding that we should not interfere with the "goose that lays the golden eggs."

Speaking candidly about national concerns, Princewill stated that while democracy is possible in this country, it is not being implemented correctly. He voiced doubts about the elimination of subsidies and the depreciation of the naira.

He emphasized that they are not providing solutions for our economic problems. According to him, Nigeria faces problems bigger than only the people that occupy Aso Rock.

When asked if he would be involved in 2027 politics, Tonye Prince replied, "Certainly I will be involved. What I don’t know is in what capacity."

"The politics I see are no longer interesting. But we will continue our work and hope enough people join us to ask for things to improve."

"Just as in 2007, I helped Amaechi to continue because he was doing what needed to be done; my prayer is that in 2027, I will help Sim continue because he is doing what needs to be done too."
