Cabinet Secretary for Interior Hon Professor Kithure Kindiki has broken a long silence in the wake of today's destructive protests.

In his statement to the news rooms, he said that Gen Z were heard by the President and now what's happening is unacceptable and that it will be dealt with full force of the law.

He added that the Police were in high alert to thwart any criminal activity. He however noted that the police who used excessive force are under investigation.

After a week of fatal violence during anti-tax rallies, Kenyan riot police used tear gas on demonstrators in Nairobi on Tuesday, and protests broke out in other towns throughout the nation, calling for President William Ruto's resignation.

After demonstrators flung stones at police in the central business district and set fire to Waiyaki Way, the main thoroughfare in the heart of the capital, clouds of tear gas billowed over downtown Nairobi.

Hundreds of demonstrators paraded through Mombasa, Kenya's second-largest city, along the Indian Ocean coast, in a lively mood outside the capital. "Ruto must go!" they sang as they waved palm fronds, pounded on drums, and blasted on plastic horns.
