Expulsion of Shaibu and Orbih: For us in the APC, it’s time for us to celebrate- Andrew Enwanta

A Chieftain of the APC and former commissioner for information in Edo State, Andrew Enwanta has said that the ruling PDP in the state is sinking. Enwanta said this while reacting to the expulsion of former deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu and the South-South Vice Chairman, Dan Orbih from the PDP.

Speaking in an interview on News Central TV, Enwanta recounted the role Orbih and Shaibu played to help Obaseki when he was facing a crisis regarding his re-election in 2020. He said for them in the APC, it’s time for them to celebrate because Obaseki is destroying his house. He added that even Asue Ighodalo, the candidate he’s supporting ahead of the September 21 governorship election has raised the alarm that the party is highly factionalised.

He said: “I think the PDP as a party is sinking. If you suspend the leader of your party that’s the South-South Vice Chairman, you suspend a person who gave Obaseki his ticket in 2020, because Ogbedie was already the person that was seen as the presumptive candidate when Obaseki was thrown out of the APC."

"And Philip Shaibu who has stood by him, they forced him out as deputy Governor. Not done yet they now want him out of the party. I mean, for us in the APC, it’s time for us celebrate because the emperor in PDP, Obaseki has destroyed his house. And his own candidate that he’s supporting is crying that the party is highly factionalised. That they have five factions.”
