In a recent report by the SUN, Senator Maidoki of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leveled accusations against the Senate leadership, headed by Senator Godswill Akpabio, alleging unfair treatment and lack of justice in Senate affairs.

During an interview with BBC Hausa, Senator Maidoki expressed frustration over his limited opportunities to address the Senate floor, attributing this to what he described as prevailing sentiments and interests. Nevertheless, he affirmed his unwavering commitment to advocating for a Senate and Nigeria that prioritize the common good, transcending tribal, religious, and political differences.

When questioned about his role in selecting the Senate leadership, Senator Maidoki clarified that while they supported a particular candidate, circumstances led to a different outcome. Despite this, he emphasized their continued support and allegiance to the leadership chosen, aligning with the President's preferences. Senator Maidoki stressed their dedication to the collective good of the National Assembly, emphasizing their ongoing endorsement of the current leadership.

He said: "It’s not the way you put it. We did what we think was good for the National Assembly, particularly the Senate. We voted for the person we had wanted. But unfortunately, our choice candidate didn’t emerge successful. But we have put that behind us and had thrown our support to the persons the President wanted who eventually emerged. We have repeatedly pledged our support and loyalty to the leadership, and we have been doing that wholeheartedly."
