Former Super Eagles international, Emmanuel Amunike has spoken after he lost the Super Eagles job to Finidi George earlier this week. According to a report by Punch, Emmanuel Amunike said that his name was smeared because of the fact that he was interested in becoming the new coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Punch reports that Emmanuel Amunike said that "they succeeded in smearing my name in the media because of the Super Eagles job. They can continue with their propaganda but I will remain disciplined".
It should be said that Emmanuel Amunike was considered as one of the favourites for the Super Eagles job. However, the Nigeria Football Federation decided to appoint Finidi George instead of Emmanuel Amunike. Finidi George is also a former Super Eagles star. He recently served as an assistant coach under the management of former Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro. Finidi George also served as the interim manager of the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the month of March.
