Former Senator Olaka Nwogu has condemned Oko-Jumbo's actions as a "mockery of democracy" in an interview with Arise News. Nwogu lambasted Oko-Jumbo for conducting a session with only two other members, despite lacking a quorum, and for allowing non-members to sit in the gallery to create a false impression.

The former Senator reiterated that Oko-Jumbo's suspension remains in effect, rendering his actions as "speaker" illegitimate. Nwogu expressed outrage at Oko-Jumbo's audacity, particularly after the Appeal Court ruling, and accused him of attempting to mislead the public.

In his words;

"Oko-Jumbo after the Appeal Court ruling, still had the audacity to hold a session, him and two others constitute the Rivers State House of Assembly, when they know there's not even a quorum, assuming the defection was legitimate and you saw visitors sitting in the gallery. If you watch that clip, you'll think those people sitting there were members of the Assembly. They're people who do not have any business there. To mislead people, they sat there and then the speaker moves in with a maze. He's not a speaker, he was suspended"
