On July 2, 2024, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Diran Odeyemi, responded to a recent statement by Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

According to the Punch Newspaper, Fubara had said they were no longer focusing on the party but on a movement because the PDP had failed them.

Odeyemi cautioned Governor Fubara against extending his frustrations to the party that provided him the platform to become the Governor of Rivers State.

He went on emphasizing the need for restraint even in times of anger.

In Diran Odeyemi's words, he disclosed saying, "That is why we have, in the constitution, ways and manner of resolving the issues. Even if anything is going wrong within the party, I expected him to have contacted the party hierarchy, and all party organs, and stated his grievances. Don’t destroy a party that made you who you are. Agreed, you have your grievances, but go through the normal channels and do not portray the party as unable to resolve its issues."
