Chief Edwin Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information and a prominent leader in the South-South region, has written a letter addressed to Amb. Umar Ililya Damagum, the Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), urging him to either take decisive action or step down from his position to prevent the party from collapsing under his leadership. According to Vanguard, Clark's letter raised concerns about the alleged influence of a "paymaster" on Damagum's decision-making processes and criticizes the party's leadership for seemingly ignoring issues in Rivers State.

In his letter, Clark emphasized the critical importance of strong and independent leadership within the PDP to effectively address the challenges confronting the party. He underscored the necessity of upholding party integrity and unity, urging Damagum to prioritize the interests of the party above external pressures. Clark also referenced Air Commodore Bode George's television interview following the NEC meeting, where he offers a contrasting view of the PDP's status as a great party with wisdom. Clark expressed disagreement with George's portrayal, highlighting George's previous stance before and after the 2023 elections. He noted George's alignment with the G5, led by Nyesom Wike, advocating for a reconciliation of all party members.

Hear him: “I listened very carefully to my most respected friend, Air Commodore Bode George’s interview on the television after the NEC meeting and I laughed at the picture he painted of the PDP as a great party with wisdom. But with due respect to him, I completely disagree with him. of course, I know his position before and after the elections of 2023. At that time, he was one of us who believed that the presidency should be zoned to the southern part of the country. Bode George, no doubt, is sympathetic with the G5, headed by Nyesom Wike on the strength that the north cannot produce the presidential candidate and at the same time the National Chairman of the party. I know as a party statesman he would prefer a reconciliation of all members of the party."
