Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has found himself facing the wrath of angry Kenyans who have displayed dissatisfaction with Sifuna on his stand to vote yes on the Conflict of Interest Bill that allows state officials to do business with government.
The bill was tabled by Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina. However, political pundits argue that this bill could cripple the fight against corruption in Kenya. This bill seeks to allow top state officials including Cabinet Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Senators, MPs, Governors, and other top officials together with their spouses, children and siblings to trade with government.
Sifuna who has been flying high with Kenyans especially Gen z group, after he decided to engage with them and help them fight for the rejection of the punitive finance bill 2024/25, has now been identified as among those that voted in favour of the Conflict of Interest Bill 2023. This came as a surprise to Kenyans whom were of the idea that indeed Edwin Sifuna was one of them.
Kenyans through the X platform vowed to deal with Sifuna once they meet physically. They said they will be asking him how passing the conflict of interest bill would help them in the fight against corruption in Kenya.
