The House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs has summoned Ibrahim Lamuwa, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, over allegations of sexual harassment.

The accusation was made by Simisola Ajayi, an aide to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, through her lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN.

According to Punch, Ajayi's petition, submitted to the Office of the Head of Service to the Federation, alleges that Lamuwa approached her on October 7, 2023, during a retreat to review President Bola Tinubu’s 4D policy.

According to the petition, Lamuwa asked Ajayi why she did not stay overnight at the hotel and invited her to his room. Ajayi declined, explaining that she needed to care for her baby.

Following the allegations, the Head of Service, Folasade Yemi-Esan, suspended Lamuwa pending the outcome of the investigation.

On May 27, 2024, Minister Yusuf Tuggar informed Yemi-Esan of the allegations against Lamuwa.

In June, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) invited Ajayi for questioning.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, Oluwole Oke, confirmed that Lamuwa will appear before the committee on Thursday to address the allegations.
