According to reports from DAILY POST, the Ekiti State Police Command has issued a stern warning to residents against the unauthorized use of number plates, sirens, tinted glasses, and other vehicle modifications.

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, the Commissioner of Police, CP Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, made it clear that anyone found in violation of these orders will face the full consequences of the law.

The statement detailed the police's concerns regarding these illegal practices:

"The Ekiti State Police Command has observed with great concern the way some vehicle owners and drivers engage in the illegal use of official number plates, drive vehicles without plate numbers or with the wrong plate numbers, and use vehicles with artificial tints and unauthorized sirens/revolving lights."

The police noted that many vehicle owners have developed a habit of covering their license plates without justification.

They also warned that criminal elements often exploit these illicit practices to facilitate their nefarious activities, making it difficult to trace or recover stolen vehicles.

"In view of this, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, CP Akinwale Kunle Adeniran, has assessed the security implications and warns against the unauthorized and unwholesome usage of sirens/revolving lights, plate numbers, artificial tinted glasses, and vehicles without or with the wrong plate numbers, as well as the covering of plate numbers."
