Manchester United has been fairly inactive in this summer's transfer window due to their issues off-pitch with the managerial staff. INEOS and Ratcliffe made the decision to keep Erik ten Hag and offered the Dutch manager another chance at coaching the Red Devils. With that out of the way, they moved on to addressing the pressing issues on the pitch.

United performed underwhelmingly last season and a lot of the blame could be put on the manager but the players had their part to play. Stars such as Rashford, Luke Shaw, and Casemiro did not play to their maximum potential and it affected the team greatly but Ten Hag has identified key players who he believes will reshape his current side into  premier league contenders once again.

Fabrizio Romano and other news reporters have been covering the story on Bologna striker, Joshua Zirkzee for a long time and AC Milan were heavily linked with a move for the Dutch forward. However, United took the lead in the race for his signature and are now close to securing it. The striker comes highly rated and had a phenomenal season with Bologna.

He has agreed a 4-year contract with the red devils and personal terms are not thought to be an issue. All that's left is for United to agree a fee with Bologna and the striker will be theirs.

Manchester United continued to leak goals in at the back last season and is currently looking to bolster its defense with a high-profile signing. Lisandro Martinez was injured for a large chunk of the season while Lindelof and Maguire seemed to be incapable of holding the defensive fort. Because of these deficiencies, they have moved to acquire Bayern Munich defender, Matthijs De Ligt.

The former Ajax and Juventus center-back is thought to be incredibly interested in a move to Old Trafford. At this rate it might not be long before personal terms are agreed with the Dutch defender.

The 26-year-old defender is considering leaving the Allinaz arena in Germany and Manchester United might be the perfect fit for him. Graeme Bailey reported that United want to get the medicals of both Zirkzee and De Ligt done by Friday but because of their continued run in the Euros it might not be feasible.
