Group Urges EFCC To Investigate Defence Minister, Matawalle

A socio-political pressure group, the APC Akida Forum, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the former Governor of Zamfara State and current Minister of Defense, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, over alleged corruption and mismanagement of public funds totaling N70 billion.
In a formal complaint submitted to the EFCC headquarters on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, the group urged the commission to reopen the investigation into Matawalle’s alleged corruption activities during his tenure as Governor of Zamfara State.

No Journalist Jailed Under Tinubu – Minister

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has said no journalist has been incarcerated under the Bola Tinubu administration for practising responsible journalism.
According to a statement on Friday, the Minister spoke in Abuja during a press briefing organised by his minist ry in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management, and the United Nations Educational and Scientific Organisation to commemorate this year’s World Press Freedom Day.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu; and a chieftain of the party, Segun Showunmi, have vowed to resist attempts by any individual to cause a fresh crisis in the party.
Adebutu and Sowunmi spoke on Thursday while addressing leaders and members of the party during a stakeholders meeting held at the party secretariat, in Abeokuta, ahead of the party congress.

Nigerian fintech companies have warned their customers against trading in cryptocurrency or any virtual currency on their apps, threatening to block any accounts found engaging in such activities.
At least four fintechs—Opay, Moniepoint, PalmPay, and Paga—have communicated this development to their customers on Friday.
