In the same way that it is currently investigating the case of Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, the Elder Statesman Edwin Clark is requesting that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) revisit and probe all former governors who served the country and robbed the country's purse. To add insult to injury, he pleaded with Bello to give in to the demand for dignity.

Clark, in a letter addressed to the head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), demanded that an investigation be conducted so that President Bola Tinubu could carry out his anti-corruption programme. In his request, he requested that the EFCC speed up the trial of former governors who have been accused of living lavishly at the cost of disadvantaged Nigerians since 2007.

During an interactive segment on Arise TV, Edwin Clark discussed the invitation extended to Yahaya Bello by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with allegations of theft of public funds while Bello was still acting as governor of Kogi State. Upon being questioned about the matter, he responded as follows:

"I think Yahaya Bello is not my subject, he's just a young man who followed the footprint of his predecessors and so on. That's not the main issue, what I really said is the revival and decision of the new Chairman of the EFCC, to revive and to revisit pending cases for over ten years. Those who have been jailed for over 10 years have returned to Nigeria and are living free life."
